The Coronavirus COVID-19 brought the United States into clear focus of the reality of a pandemic problem. School districts must remain focused on this Public Health Crisis first and foremost. Due to Governor Abbott’s declaration, all school districts are to remain closed through April 3, 2020. Texas schools are closing (not allowing students on campus) and having students remain at home and send instruction to students. RSISD will be closing and students will not return to campus for a minimum or two weeks. RSISD campus will close March 23, 2020 through April 3, 2020. These dates can be extended. As with all school districts, Richland Springs ISD is working to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus. Our primary goal is the safety of our students and staff.

Staff has varied methods for homebound instruction, from internet instruction to packet pick-up. Some students picked up work packets from 8:00-9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 23rd.

Teachers at Richland Springs contacted and informed parents last week about their children. Instruction at grade levels differs, from online Google Classroom to printed lessons with parent packet pick-up. Please bear with us as we work out the new homebound instruction routines and lessons. District staff will meet and evaluate the first week of homebound learning, and make improvement/changes as necessary. Contact Principal Rhonda Wyatt with your concerns and questions. We are here to work with parents and students to complete this school year in a safe-as-possible manner.

Please look at the information on this webpage. According to the webpage there are a few simple routines that will help mitigate the spread COVID-19.

There are simple steps everyone can take to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses like COVID-19:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

• Stay home when you are sick.

• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Ten weeks remain in the 2019-2020 school year. Please pray for our schools and our country. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. We must educate ourselves and become knowledgeable on COVID-19. Working together we can overcome any obstacle! Thanks for all you do!
