San Saba J.V. and DeLeon Deadlock 30-30

It was a great football game last Thursday evening as two undefeated teams fought to a 30-30 tie in De Leon.

San Saba kicked to De Leon to begin the contest. The Bearcats passed and ran well eating up most of the first quarter eventually scoring and making the extra points to lead 8-0. DeLeon kicked to San Saba. The Dillo offense took the rest of the first quarter and much of the second driving the ball on runs by Luke Thorpe, Jason Everett, Graden Lebow, And Kaylub Roberts. Luke Thorpe scored the first Dillo score and extra points. 8-8. The Bearcats scored late in the second quarter to lead 16-8 at the half.

DeLeon kicked to San Saba to begin the second half. The Dillo offense moved the ball on runs by Thorpe, Everett, Lebow and Roberts. Luke Thorpe broke loose on a 35yard touchdown run. Luke broke several tackles running for the extra points. 16-16 San Saba kicked to the Bearcats. De Leon drove the ball and eventually scored. The P.A.T. failed. 22-16 Bearcats.

DeLeon kicked to San Saba. The early fourth quarter found San Saba offense on the move. Jason Everett scored from 15 yards out. The P.A.T. failed. 22-22.

San Saba kicked to DeLeon. San Saba’s Defense had the Bearcats stopped. De Leon threw a pass on fourth down. The pass was tipped by a Dillo defender right into a Bearcat receiver who scored. The extra points made it 30-22 with about 40 seconds left in the game.

DeLeon kicked to San Saba. Thorpe had a good return. San Saba ran a reverse for a good gain. Thorpe threw a short pass to Preston Gray who lateraled to Everett for a touchdown. Everett ran in for the extra points to tie the game with little time remaining.

San Saba kicked to De Leon and tackled the runner to end the game. Great performances by Lebow, Everett, Thorpe, Roberts, Gray, Jack Stewardson, Carson Murphy, Jose Vega, Omar Landeros, Martin Macias, Dillon Kraft and Danny English on offense and Jayden Aguirre, Stewardson, Anthony Garcia, on defense. The young Dillos never gave up and battled to the end. The Dillos play Bangs here Thursday evening.
