Several members of the San Saba Golden Armadillo Band traveled to Austin this past weekend to compete in the Region 32 UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition. The brass quintet performed 'Trumpet Voluntary' by Stanley and earned a division 1 from their judge. Members of the brass quintet are Delaney Ellis on trombone, Julia Smith on horn, One Nguyen on tuba, Karol Guerrero on trumpet and Everett Eidson on trumpet. Our saxophone trio performed 'Adagio and Allegretto' by Hook/Gee and earned a division 1 from their judge. Members of the saxophone trio are Chris Vega, Leia Kilman, and Jose Aguilera. Both groups performed pieces off of the UIL Class 1 Prescribed Music List. Since they earned a division 1 on the class 1 list, they have been certified to advance to the state contest which will be held Memorial weekend at Pflugerville High School.
