The San Saba High School varsity football team is already just one month away from taking the field for live-action games in pads as the Armadillos unveiled their 2021 schedule.
To begin the 2021 preseason, the Dillos will travel on Friday, August 13, for a road scrimmage against Bangs High School and will return home on Friday, August 20, for a home scrimmage vs. San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy.
The Dillos will open up their 2021 regular-season schedule on Friday, August 27, with the start of their non-district slate on the road at Eldorado High School. San Saba will play four more non-district games: September 3 on the road at Rogers High School, September 10 at home vs. Mason High School for the annual Homecoming Game, September 17 at home vs. Llano High School, and September 24 on the road at Dublin High School.
Following a bye week on October 1, San Saba will enter their 2A-1 District 4 schedule on October 8 vs. Goldthwaite High School at a neutral location still to be determined, October 15 at home vs. Winters High School, October 22 on the road at De Leon High School, October 29 at home vs. Coleman High School for Parents Night, and November 5 on the road at Cisco High School.
San Saba is coming off a successful 2020 season that saw them finish with an impressive 9-3 overall record. The Dillos were the District 4 runner-up with a 4-1 record, had a 31-17 victory in the bi-district round vs. Forsan High School, and were eliminated from the 2A-1 playoffs in the area round with a very hard-fought 49-35 loss to Panhandle High School.
Prior to the start of the muchanticipated 2021 season, San Saba head coach Andreas Aguirre and his staff will be hosting a three-day football camp on July 14-16 for incoming first through ninth graders that will focus on football fundamentals and life skills. There will also be a Meet The Dillos event on Friday, August 6, held at the San Saba Civic Center that will feature a fish fry, silent auction, performance by the Golden Armadillo Band, intro to the Dillos, and a live auction.
