The San Saba High School varsity baseball team announced on Friday, May 28, that five Armadillos players were honored by being named to the All-District Team for District 29-2A.

Dillos junior Wesley Lackey was selected as a first-team utility player for his great play throughout the 2021 season with elite speed on the basepaths and clutch hitting in the leadoff spot of the batting order for San Saba.

Also named a first-team player at pitcher was Reagan Mejia, the team’s ace on the mound in 2021 and provided a very reliable bat. Back on April 6 during the Dillos’ 9-1 victory on the road at district foe Junction High School, the junior pitcher threw his best outing of the season with 7.0 innings pitched and a whopping 11 strikeouts, and just one run allowed.

The Dillos’ final first-team selection was senior first baseman Logan Glover, who provided solid power out of the cleanup spot of the order for San Saba. The very talented multi-sport athlete Glover is committed to playing football collegiately beginning in the fall 2021 season for Angelo State University.

San Saba had two more players who were recognized as second-team selections: senior Risien Shanan as a middle infielder and freshman Lane King as a utility player.
