The San Saba High School Clarinet Quartet earned a Division 1 Superior Rating on their state performance at the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest held on Memorial Day.
The adjudicator said the following about the quartet’s performance: “You get mature, resonant tones on the clarinet. Individual part preparation is well achieved. I really appreciate your attention to detail, the reading of ALL the ink on the page. Thank you for this musical performance today. Great learning and teaching. Congratulations!” The members of the clarinet quartet have put in countless hours of practice individually and as a group since receiving their music in January. They qualified for the state contest after earning a Division 1 at the Region Contest in February. They have continued to work together perfecting their music in preparation for the state contest. They were determined to perform at a superior level and they achieved their goal. We are super proud of their hard work and commitment and look forward to seeing them continue to grow as musicians in the future. This is the first time since 2021 for an SSHS ensemble to receive a Division 1 at the state level. Instructor for the clarinet quartet is Misty Moellendorf.
