Sue Harkey, a native of San Saba, Texas, passed away on March 25, 2023, with her loving husband of 63 years by her side. She was a proud part of the San Saba community and a devoted member of the Church of the Open Door. Many people will remember Sue for her beautiful and delicious decorated cakes for birthdays, weddings, and any other occasion for celebration. She truly leaves behind a sweet legacy! She comforted and nurtured everyone around her with love, good food, and a willingness to help anyone in need. Her love for her children, her brothers and sisters, all of her extended family, and God was boundless.

Sue is survived by her husband, Jimmie Harkey of San Saba; children: Gordon Harkey and his wife Cathryn of Brownwood, Tammie Shea and her husband John of San Bruno, California, and Jarvis Harkey of Vinita, Oklahoma; sisters and brothers: Sarah Smith of Tow, Patricia and Bill West of Lawton, Oklahoma, Sandy Tyler of Liberty Hill, V.C. and Dee Tyler of San Saba, Richard and Floydene Harkey of San Saba, and Pat Harkey of Taylor; grandchildren and their families: Riley and Shenay Moore of Austin, Tyler and Marlaina Harkey of Amarillo, Hanna Harkey and Joe Mancaruso of Portland, Oregon, and Trey Marshall and Mikayla Harkey of Oklahoma; great-grandchildren: Jude, Stella, and Josie; and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Vurnel C Tyler; in-laws, Cleo Sampson Rose and Richard Elvin Harkey; brothers and sister: John Smith, Monroe Tyler, Claudia Poole, and Jerry Harkey; daughter-in-law, Christi Harkey; and nieces and nephews: Jeffrey Tyler, Alta Carreon, William West, and Clint Tyler.

A memorial service to honor Sue will be planned sometime in the next few months. She will be loved and forever missed.
