Shawnacy (Bug) DeeAnn Barker Pierce, 48, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 14, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas.
As a quadriplegic for the last 14 years of her life, Shawnacy suffered many life-threatening illnesses and infections, and survived. This time, the infection wasn’t treated in a timely manner causing sepsis and cardiac arrest, leaving her unresponsive to her surroundings. She is now free of pain and
She is now free of pain and no longer confined to a bed and stuck in a body that doesn’t work. Shawnacy, also known to her family and friends as Bug, was born on April 9, 1973 to Vanessa Laughlin Patterson and Joe Ned Barker in Odessa, Texas.
Shawnacy is preceded in death by her father and grandparents, JoNell and Lee Ketchum.
She is survived by her mother, Vanessa; sons, Jeremy Pierce of San Saba, Texas, and Alexander Weisz of Corpus Christi, Texas; brothers, Jeff Ringo of Florida, and Tim Ringo of San Saba, Texas; sisters: Dallas Ringo and husband, Joe David Mansell, of Llano, Texas; Amber Patterson and husband, David Alcorn, of San Saba, Texas; and Starlyn Ringo (Andy) Davis of Waco, Texas; nieces and nephews: Alexis Patterson and Dahlia Alcorn of San Saba, Texas; Jonathan Ringo, of Llano, Texas; Devin and his wife, Kendall Moreno, of Llano, Texas; and Dillenger Alcorn of San Saba, Texas; one grandchild; special friend, Mary Kinkhead, of Brownwood, Texas; and numerous uncles, cousins, and friends.
Shawnacy will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home of San Saba, Texas on October 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
