Phil B. McCoury age 85, of Bend, Texas, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on September 5, 2020. Phil was born on April 14, 1935, in Chappel Community in San Saba, Texas, to James McCoury and Juanita Kenney. He attended school at Chappel and Bend. Phil B. was a true farmer and rancher if there ever was one. He also worked for Bend Landscaping for many years. Phil loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Winnie Lou of Bend, Texas; two daughters; Diane and Charles Dowdy of College Station, Texas, and Phyllis McCoury of Bend, Texas; five grandchildren: Justin McCoury and wife, Melissa, of Bryan, Texas; Curtis Lemons and wife, Cydney, of College Station, Texas; LaShonda Keen and husband, Steven (Peachy), Keen of Lubbock, Texas; Philip Dowdy and wife, Gretchen, of College Station, Texas; and Rebecca Conner and husband, D.J., of Bryan, Texas; eight great - grandchildren: Holli Kolby, Cole and Kyle Keen, Carson and Caleb Lemons, Madeline and Wyatt McCoury, and Leann Conner; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, LeAnn Lemons; one brother and sister-in-law, Billie Bub McCoury and wife, Carolyn. A special thanks to Altus Hospice for their excellent care and compassion during this journey. He was blessed to have a very special caregiver and friend, Megan Lewis. A Visitation was held on Monday, September 7, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Chapel in San Saba, Texas. A Graveside Service was held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at The Bend Methodist Campgrounds in Bend, Texas, at 2:00 p.m. with Floyd Hoke and Gilbert Salsado officiating. Interment will be at Bend Cemetery.
