Mario Mendiola, age 70 of San Saba, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. Mario enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching football, especially his Cowboys, and he worked so hard and for so long that his family is convinced he saw work as a hobby. He was employed at City National Bank for 35 years, Methodist Church for 30 years and did lawn service for over 30 years for many residents of San Saba.

Mario had many friends and no enemies; he helped others when needed, often going the extra mile even when tired. He loved and feared God; he was quiet, humble and kind. And those who spent even a little time in his presence knew he had a gentle spirit. Mario was the greatest husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend we could have ever asked or hoped for. This year, he celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife, Gloria Mendiola.

He is survived by his wife Gloria; children: Esmeralda Soto married to Franky Soto, Antonio Mendiola married to Mary Mendiola, and Victoria Mendiola; grandchildren: Miranda Soto, Franky Jr. Soto married to Bonnie Soto, Israel Mendiola and Vanessa Mendiola; great grandkids: Fallon, Hadleigh and Camden Soto; sisters: Sulema Cisneroz, Mirla Reyes and Suzana Hernandez married to Jr. Hernandez. Mario is proceeded by his father and mother Delores Flores Mendiola and daughter Monica Mendiola.
