Marie Anita Gomez, 87, of San Saba, Texas, went to be with our Lord Monday, December 19, 2022. Marie was born April 17, 1935, in San Saba, to Antonio and Maria de Jesus Gamboa.
After graduating from San Saba High School, Marie attended and graduated from nursing school at the San Saba Hospital. She then moved to Austin to work as a nurse where she met the love of her life TSgt Marcos S. Gomez. They married on June 15, 1958, and resided in various parts of the United States before retiring in San Angelo. Marie continued her education and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1992 from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. After her husband’s death, Marie returned to San Saba.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother - Antonio Gamboa, Jr., two sisters - Irene Ross and Ercilia Wilson, one granddaughter - Marisol E. Gomez and one greatgrandson – Marcos Jose Saucillo-Rodriguez.
She is survived by her sisters - Enedina Woodworth and husband Mancel, Cleotilde (Koko) Trotter and husband Bill, Maria (Cookie) Gamboa; brothers - Joe Gamboa and wife Frances, Angel Gamboa, Manuel Gamboa and wife Betty; son - Marcos S. Gomez, Jr. and wife Zenaida; daughters - Isabel Naomi Saucillo and husband Louis, and Margot Yvonne Contreras and husband Bruno; grandchildren - Marcos S. Gomez III, Tanya A. Saucillo and Marcus Rodriguez, Eloise N. Saucillo and Robert Felan, Salomé L. Saucillo, Yvette and Chase Adams, and Cydnee Contreras; and great-grandchildren - Eneas Velasquez, Anelise Felan, Jeremiah Saucillo, Zephyr Addkison, Elias Bowman and Amity Adams. She also has several nieces and nephews.
Public Viewing at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. were held Monday, December 26th, at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba, followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in San Saba. Graveside Service was held at Texas Veteran Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, on Tuesday, December 27th, at 3:00 p.m.
