Maria Cruz Orocio Guerrero, born in La Presita, Guanajuato, Mexico, then settled in San Saba, Texas, and she most recently resided in Brownwood, ascended into Heaven on November 24, 2024, surrounded by family at the age of 98.
She is survived by her children: Edwardo Guerrero, Eva Ibarra, Anita Peña and husband Mario, Delfina Guzman and husband Prudencio, Lencho Guerrero and wife Virginia, Irma Guerrero and husband Scotty Hibler, Adela Guerrero, and Maximino Guerrero. She was blessed with 39 grandkids, and numerous great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids. Maria devoted her life to her family, raising her kids, nurturing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved when her family gathered together, she also spent countless hours in her garden watering her roses, fruit trees, herbs and vegetable plants. She lended a helping hand anytime someone knocked on her door needing help settling into the community. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Maximino Guerrero; three sons: Fortunato, Antonio, and Nicandro Guerrero; one grandson, Enrique Peña; and many siblings.
Visitation will be held at Heartland Funeral Home in Early from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, with a rosary beginning at 7:00p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, at St. Mary Queen of Peace in Brownwood. Interment will follow the service at San Saba City Cemetery.
