Maybell (Cook) Ray from Cherokee, Texas, passed away February 6, 2022, in Lampasas, Texas. She was born September 11, 1922, in San Saba, Texas. Ms. Maybell was the youngest child of B. A. and Dora (McCoy) Cook. Ms. Maybell married Cecil E. Ray on May 19, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was a homemaker and member of Cherokee Methodist Church.
She loved flowers, working in her garden, sewing, and if there was somewhere to go, she was the first one in the car. She loved spending as much time as possible with her family, neighbors, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil E. Ray; parents; her brother, Melvin Cook; her sisters: Bessie Smith, Vera Turnipseed, Maggie Kincaid, Goldia Harkey, and Ruth Kincaid.
Ms. Ray is survived by her son, Gary Lynn Ray of Cherokee; Joyce Capps and husband Randy; her grandson, Brandon Ray Capps of Lampasas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation for Ms. Ray at Heritage Funeral Home on February 11, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday, February 11, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Chapel Cemetery, Bend, Texas.
