Larry Wayne Hibler

Larry Wayne Hibler was born on May 2, 1940, in Mills County, Texas, to Fielden H. and Gladys Edgerton Hibler. He passed to life eternal on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the age 82 years.

Larry was raised in San Saba, where he graduated from high school in 1958. He married Shirley Ann McKown on November 17, 1957. He loved to fish and hunt and taught his boys about fishing. He coached Little League with his boys and also enjoyed playing league softball. Larry developed a work ethic very early in his life, and at the age of 12 took his first job with Raider Dick at the Modern Way grocery store. He also worked for Thurmond Johnson in Goldthwaite. He operated a variety of other businesses over the years and most recently Hibler Family Processing and Larry’s Corner Cafe. He was also a livestock producer. His true passion was farming and gardening.

Larry is survived by his wife Shirley Ann McKown Hibler, and his five children: Allen Wade Hibler (Ellen), Dana Troy Hibler, Regina Joy Hibler Woodward (Scotty), James William “Pete” Hibler (Lisa) and Larry Quintin Hibler. He is also survived by grandchildren: Ashley Woodward Johnson, Jon Fielden Hibler (Katie), McKenzie Hibler, Micah Hibler Locker (Shane), Hailey Hibler, Jacob McKown Hibler (Kellie), Troy Allen James “TJ” Hibler, Hannah Joy Hibler, and Jett Wesley Hibler. He was known to refer to his grandchildren as “his blessings.” Nine great-grandchildren also mourn the loss of their “Poppy”: Tyler Ian Johnson, Tucker Jym Johnson, Jordan Wayne Fusilier, Tessa Joy Johnson, Olivia Ryan Locker, Clara Layne Hibler, Fielden James Hibler, Willow Rain Locker and Mason McKown Hibler. Larry also leaves behind siblings Jean Givens, Harry Dean Hibler (Linda Gayle), Keith Hibler (Pamela Diane) and Carol Bourke.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Valeria Sadie Coleman, daughter-in-law Regina Ince Hibler, sisters- and brothers-in-law Dorothy and David Smith and Mabel and Pat Grimes, and brothers-in-law Larry Don Bourke and Floyd Givens as well as many other nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Blaylock Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. Reverend Barry Fikes and Reverend Ellen Hibler officiated. In lieu of usual remembrances, the Hibler family requests that memorial donations be offered to the charity of their choice.
