Katherine Nadine Birdwell, age 73, of San Saba, Texas, passed away at home on Wednesday, February, 17, 2021. Katherine’s wishes were to be cremated. Katherine was born in San Saba, Texas, on January, 13, 1948, to Clarence Sanderson and Margie (Behrens). Katherine and her three siblings were raised by their grandparents’, Andrew and Arlonia Behrens. Katherine worked in a sewing factory for many years until she obtained her nursing degree. She worked in area nursing homes for years until she started working for Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a nurse from which she retired after 10 years. Katherine loved to sew, and she loved her children, and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a caregiver to her family and was the rock that held them together.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: John Lee Pafford, Patricia Pafford, Conrad Pafford and Melissa Pafford; 17 grand-children and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Sanderson; and adopted sons: Jimmy Sandford and Tony Birdwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; one sister, Barbara Sanderson; and two husbands, John Pafford and Tom Birdwell. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba, Texas is in charge of arrangements.
