June Elizabeth Davis

Our dear Aunt June, June Elizabeth Davis, left us Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

She was 87 years young, born June 28, 1936, at Sloan Community in San Saba, Texas, to George Barrom Yarbrough and Thelma Elizabeth (Langham) Yarbrough. She married Gene Edward Davis on June 19, 1970 in Odom, San Patricio County, Texas.

Aunt June was a Christian. She was a graduate of San Saba High School and went on to earn both a Bachelor and Masters degree. She was a teacher for over 35 years, retiring in 1994. Twenty of those years were with the Aransas Pass Independent School District.

Aunt June is survives by a sister, Martha Lou Tancre of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Nathaniel Frank (Nat) Yarbrough and wife, Beverly (Becky) Gail (McCracken) of McEwen, Tennessee; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Edward Davis; father, George Barrom Yarbrough; mother, Thelma Elizabeth (Langham) Yarbrough; 3 sisters: Wanda Jean Bessent, Mary Frances Davis and Cassie Lanelle Hawkins; and 2 brothers: George Gerald Yarbrough and James Barrom Yarbrough.

A celebration of Aunt June's life will be held at a later date, with a private interment next to her husband, Gene Edward Davis at Chamberlain Cemetery, Kingsville, Texas.
