Josephine “Josie” Landeros Huron

Josephine “Josie” Landeros Huron, 71, of San Saba, Texas, passed away in Abilene, Texas, on July 30, 2021. Josie was born in Lampasas, Texas, to Camilo “Cowboy” Landeros and Delores Sanchez on February 4, 1950. She went to school in Lampasas. She married Orion Brooks Huron, Sr., on June 5, 1978. In 1976, Josie attended a nursing program in Gatesville, Texas, and obtained her license to practice in the State of Texas as an LVN. She worked for several nursing homes and clinics. In 1979, she moved to San Saba and began working for the Cross Timbers clinic and now Hendrick Clinic San Saba. Josie was a caring and compassionate nurse who treated her patients with dignity and respect. Nursing for over 43 years and caring for multi generations was what made Josie a great person and nurse. She was friendly and a joy to be around, and she always had a beautiful smile. Josie made herself available to everyone, even after hours. Josie cared about her family, patients and friends and was proud to be part of a team that provides healthcare to the community.

Josie is preceded in death by Orion B. Huron Sr., Joe Ruben Huron, Lucinda Huron, Nicky Elliot, Sylvano Sanchez, Fred Sanchez, Camilo Landeros, Delores Sanchez, Sarah Castillo Sanchez, and Abraham Sanchez. Josie is survived by daughters and son: Veronica “Flicka” Correa, San Saba, Texas; Elsa Huron (Andrew Ruiz), San Saba, Texas; Oriana Orozco (Rick Orozco), San Antonio, Texas; and David Correa (Doug Williams), San Antonio, Texas; brothers and sisters: Paul Sanchez, Mike Sanchez, Louise Contreras, and Tony Sanchez; grandchildren: Orion Brooks Huron III, Anthony Salinas, Cody Huron, Jerry Joe Davila, Valarie Salinas (Jeronimo Marin IV), Jennifer Correa, Roman Orozco, Zavier Ruiz, Luke Orozco, Estefana Correa, and Elijah Orozco; great-Grandchildren: Cain Salinas, Jeronimo Marin V, and Elliott Salinas.

Pallbearers were Chris Meredith, Tony Meredith, Anthony Salinas, Douglas Williams, Brooks Huron, Cody Huron, Roman Orozco and Zavier Ruiz. The family of Josie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the San Saba Community for your prayers, love, support, and kind thoughts. Visitation was Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 1:00 -1:45 p.m. at San Saba’s First Baptist Church.

Funeral services was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021, at San Saba’s First Baptist Church with Brother Sam Crosby officiating. Interment was Friday, August 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at El Carmen Cemetery, 18555 Leal Road. A Procession will depart from Blaylock Funeral Home at 7:30 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba, Texas.
