Johnnie Oswald age 98, of San Saba, Texas, passed way on October 15, 2020, peacefully surrounded by his family at San Saba Nursing and Rehabilitation in San Saba, Texas. Johnnie was born in Clifton, Texas, on August 11, 1922, to his parents, Walter Oswald and Luella (Canuteson) in Clifton, Texas. Johnnie graduated from Texas A&M University in 1949. He worked for the Federal Government as a Soil Conservationist, and he was also a rancher. Johnnie married his wife Louise (Hampe) Oswald on August 4, 1946, in Clifton, Texas, at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church. They made their home in San Saba, Texas, when they moved here in 1952. Johnnie was a well respected man and enjoyed his work. He helped many people and was humble in doing so. He cherished his family and friends.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 74 years, Louise; three children: Deborah Millican and husband Bob, Bonnie Brotherton and husband Dusty, and Johnny Oswald and wife Michelle; grandchildren: Nicole Grant, Monica Shahan and husband Kevin, Winston and wife Kristen, Brandy Carr and husband Nathan, Lindsey Kunz and husband David Kunz, Boyd Brotherton and wife Elizabeth, Nancy Herran and husband Hunter, Martha Motheral and husband Paxton and Anna Oswald; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-granddaughter, Ava Mae Millican.

A Graveside Service was held on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Clifton Lutheran Cemetery in Clifton, Texas, with John Allsbrooks officiating. Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.
