Jeanne Marie Rainbolt

Jeanne Marie Rainbolt was born May 18, 1925, at Muleshoe, Texas, to Thomas Henry and Mary Ann Adair. Jeanne (Bob) went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2022, in her daughter’s home in Algerita surrounded by her family.

At age 15, she married Luther Ray (Scooter) Rainbolt on November 30, 1940. He passed in July before their 50th wedding anniversary in November. From this union, there were three children born, Marcie Ann Cooper, Douglas Ray Rainbolt and Janice Marie Vanderburg.

In 1960, they moved from their ranch in San Saba to a farm in Floydada, Texas. Due to Scooter’s ill health, they moved to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1966 where Jeanne was employed by the City of Fort Worth in the Registrar’s office and worked there until their move back to their ranch at Algerita in 1970. She then worked at Harry’s Department Store, was self employed selling Avon products, and then she worked for the United States Post Office delivering mail on a rural route until her retirement in 1998. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling across the United States with her family and nearly achieved her goal of visiting all 50 states.

Jeanne was an active member of the San Saba First Baptist Church, Home Demonstration Club and the Garden Club. She loved game night at the church playing 42 dominoes with her friends. She readily admitted to being competitive and liked to win, whether playing with family or friends.

She was a talented seamstress and quilter. All her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren received quilts made especially for them which she stitched totally by hand. When she was no longer able to make quilts, she would embroidery beautiful gifts for the family.

Jeanne was very sentimental about having the whole family at her home for the holidays. We all looked forward to her wonderful baking and cooking, which she greatly enjoyed doing. Anytime you walked into her house, you would be served a refreshment.

At 97 years old, she is the last of 10 siblings. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Luther Ray Rainbolt, daughter Marcie Cooper, her mother and father, and nine brothers and sisters. Those surviving her are her children, Doug and Judy Rainbolt and Adam and Jan Vanderburg; grandchildren: Denise Mitchell and husband Herman, Curtis Rainbolt and wife Cristine, Brady McGee and wife Amy, Casey McGee, Russell Vanderburg and wife Jamie, and Andy Vanderburg and wife Jessica; great-grandchildren: Rebekah Ray, Sam Ray, Jake Ray, Justin McGee, Shelby McGee, Abby McGee, Emma McGee, Zoe Rainbolt, Zack Rainbolt, Zane Rainbolt and Jasmine Vanderburg.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Solaris Hospice for providing excellent care in making our mother comfortable in her last days. Also, we would like to request that the memorials be made to the China Creek Cemetery.
