Janet Louise Tackett, of San Saba, TX passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the age of 76. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, memorial services had to be postponed until now. The family invites you to a celebration of life on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. The service will be held at the Episcopal Church located at 601 W. Dry St., San Saba, TX, and will be officiated by the Reverend William C. Grusendorf. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Janet's ashes will be laid to rest by her family at several special locations, including the burial site of her parents in Iraan, TX.
Janet was born Saturday, June 12, 1943 in Tyler, TX to Allen and Helen Perry. She graduated from Kermit High School in 1961. Janet married Clyde Tackett on May 18, 1985, in Chandler, Texas. Together, Janet and Clyde had five children. They lived in Imperial, Texas where she was active with the Volunteer Fire Department. Janet also enjoyed working at the Imperial School. In 1995, Janet and Clyde moved to San Saba, Texas. Having always preferred to spend time outdoors, Janet worked several years for the USDA. Janet took great enjoyment in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for being a fabulous cook and loved gardening. Janet particularly loved teaching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how to cook, sew and knit. Janet loved history. She enjoyed collecting antiques and took great pride in the restoration of the turn of the century home that she and Clyde shared in San Saba. In addition, Janet looked forward to getting together regularly with her lifelong friends. But most of all loved spending time with her family.
Janet is survived by her husband of 35 years, Clyde Tackett of San Saba, TX; daughters, Kristie Curttright and husband, Paul E., of Hubbard, TX and Cindy Harrison and husband, Andy, of Vienna, Austria; son, Junior Tackett of Grape Creek, TX; Edverna Allen and husband, Daniel, of Midland, TX and Kaynette Pair of Grape Creek, TX; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous lifelong friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen D. Perry and Ida Helen Bradford, and sister, Judy Christine Greer.
