James Roland Collins was born on December 23, 1941, in Gorman, Texas.

He was united in marriage to Mary Henson on October 27, 1962. I

n 1974, he was ordained as a deacon in the Sidney Baptist Church and was currently a member of Board Church in Comanche.

Roland was an active farmer in Comanche County for the better part of his life. He raised peanuts, melons, grain, hay and cattle. He was an active farming advocate and sat on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors. In 1994, he was chosen as Conservation Farmer Zone 2 and was Comanche County Peanut Quality Show winner. He served as director of the Comanche Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture.

For many years, he helped with Community Rehab by serving up his delicious BBQ for many hungry workers. He traveled with the Texas Baptist Men and the Shower Trailer Ministry to help many people that were displaced by hurricanes and natural disasters.

He and Mary owned and operated Comanche Florist for 27 years. He was an active member of the Republican Party, here in 1995, he served as Party Chairman.

He loved to spend time with his family and loved to hunt and fish in his younger years every chance he had.

Roland is survived by his wife Mary Evelyn Collins - 60 years of marriage from Comanche, Texas; son - J. R. Collins and wife Jeanie from Hillrose, Colorado; grandson - Daniel Collins and wife Amanda; great-grandsons - Samson and Titus Collins from Houston, Texas; grandson - Brice Collins and wife Kelsey; great-granddaughter - Aubree Grace; great-grandson - Bode Collins from Brownwood, Texas; grandson - Levi Collins and wife Samantha; great-granddaughter - Luna Collins from Brownwood, Texas; daughter - Brenda Kay Scott and husband Labin from Sidney, Texas; grandson - Sheldon Scott and wife Marsha; great-granddaughters - Charlie and Frankie Scott from Sidney, Texas; daughter - Sherri Lynn from Tolar, Texas; granddaughter - Shandy Lusby and husband Joey from Overland Park, Kansas; two sisters - Sue Rainey and husband Jim from Comanche, Texas, and Linda Golden and husband Billy Jack from Comanche, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family received friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Chapel Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Comanche Funeral Home with Gerald Burns officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Richland Springs Cemetery. Condolences may be offered online at <www.comanchefh.com>.
