Guadalupe (Lupe) Mendoza Cantu, 98, of San Saba, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2020. Lupe was born April 6, 1922.

Lupe was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother to many generations. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.

Lupe loved her family dearly and dedicated her life raising her children and grandchildren. She was proud of the many accomplishments of her children and their families. Lupe was the last generation matriarch of her family. Lupe was a strong lady and a friend to many. She raised her children and grandchildren with devotion and love. She loved to socialize with friends and family and loved to dance. She loved her music and was always ready to celebrate special occasions with family. Lupe loved being part of family gatherings from garage sales to weddings and graduations.

Lupe is survived by her children: Mary Flores and husband Thomas of San Saba, Tony Cantu and wife Olga of San Saba, Josie Harlan and husband George of Goldthwaite, Sulema Orr of Georgetown, Susanna Lowe and husband Buster of San Saba, Manuel Cantu and wife Dolores of San Antonio, and Yolanda Jimenez of San Saba; one sister, Lenora Vasquez from Fort Worth; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Lupe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Santos Cantu; two daughters and one son.

Pallbearers were Sean Argote, Brannon Huron, Leo Jimenez Jr., Carlus Smith, Robbie Harlan, and Nicholas Trevino. Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Plumley, Anthony Cantu, Bubba Cantu, Zach Schoch, Zane Schoch, Mark Anthony Maxey, Cory Roberts, and Mark Russell DeLeon, and Russell Lowe.

Visitation was Monday, November 2, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home of San Saba with Rosary scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Church service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Saba. Burial followed at City of San Saba Cemetery.
