Gregory Dennis Hartley, 74, of Martindale, Texas, passed away on September 20, 2021, in San Marcos, Texas, after a brief illness. Greg was born on August 25, 1947, to Leon and Lillian Hartley of San Saba, Texas.
Greg grew up in San Saba and attended San Saba schools. He was a 1965 graduate of San Saba High School. Growing up, he spent lots of time with his dad hunting and fishing, and the love of fishing carried on into his adult life. He especially loved fishing at the coast and would spend time there every chance he got. He was a retired painter and had been self-employed.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 32 years, Ruth (New) Hartley. He is survived by sons: Blu Hartley and wife, Casi, of Gatesville, Texas and Cody Oliver and wife, Stacey, of Llano; bonus daughters: Vicky Patterson, Diane Gay, Jackie Donald, and Kim Page, all of the Austin area; sisters: Michele Whitley and husband, Farrel, of San Saba, and Suzanne Gage and husband, James, of Brownwood, Texas; and numerous grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A private family memorial service is scheduled for a later date.
