Our loving mother, Florinda Surita, passed gently into her eternal rest on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was born in Sabinal, Texas, to Jose and Guadalupe (Sandoval) Martinez on February 23, 1936.
Florinda worked at many jobs including the nursing home, and finally worked in the San Saba ISD for many years with special needs children before retiring. She remembered each one of the students dearly, even in her later years. Her favorite hobbies were sewing, quilting, reading and solving puzzles.
She would collect many small gifts throughout the year to give to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as stocking stuffers at Christmas. She also loved music and dancing. She will be dancing in heaven pain free now.
Florinda is survived by her loving husband, Juan Surita Sr.; her children: Julia (Adolfo Jr.) Flores of Snyder, Rosa (Ben) Goertz of Live Oak, Juan Surita Jr. of Kingsland, Zenaida (Marcos Jr.) Gomez of Elgin, and Virginia (Florencio) Guerrero of Round Mountain. She is also survived by her sisters, Juanita Martinez and Lupe Lopez, 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and three great-greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Guadalupe Martinez; six sisters; one brother; her granddaughter, Marisol Gomez; and her great-grandson, Elijah Goertz.
She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Pallbearers: Daniel Flores, Jose Goertz, Luke Zamora, Marcos Gomez III, Jaime Guerrero, and Isaiah Goertz.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of San Saba.
