Flora went home to be with the Lord October 5, 2021, in San Saba not 10 miles from her birthplace. Flora (Mama) was 86 years old. Flora was born January 11, 1935, in the big house on Wallace Creek to Ennis Ditt Vaughn and Catherine Cheek Vaughn. She was a long time member of San Saba Assembly of God Church. Flora spent her early years taking care of her husband Bennie Dean, and their four children. She loved cooking for her family, and just about anyone else who walked through her door. After she became a widow, she worked as a nurse’s assistant for nearly 20 years. In that capacity, she continued applying her love of caring for others.
Left behind to cherish her memories are children: Connie Crooks and husband Bob of Brownwood, Texas; Roger Turner and wife Roxie of Amarillo, Texas; and Ennis Turner and wife Candice of Palestine, Texas; nine grandchildren: Johnny, Jimmy, Jason, Matt, Blair, Bobby, Misty, Sabra, and Josh; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Joe Howard Vaughn and wife Carla of Allen, Texas; and Daniel Vaughn and wife Sue of Brenham, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bennie Turner; son Tommy Turner; sisters: Allie D. Stearns, Delores Dickerson, and Daisy McHorse; one grandson Tommy Turner, Jr., and one granddaughter Mandy Turner.
