Elodia M. Zapata

friends and relatives loved to find her tortilla holder and munch on her homemade tortilla’s with or without filling in them. She spent time as a cook at the local Cactus restaurant, and many would say that she loved to greet you with a smile. Elodia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Mary’s. She loved her flowers and enjoyed spending time out in her garden. Elodia’s wishes were to give special thanks to Auralia Huron and Rudy and Damiana Martinez for their extended kindness.

Elodia is survived by six children: Ramrio Zapata and his wife Tura of McGregor, Texas; Ricardo Chino Zapata and his wife Cynthia Ann of San Saba, Texas; Frank Zapata; Christina Menchaca; Yolanda Hernandez and her husband Amado of San Saba, Texas; and Maria Zapata of Flowermound, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Elodia is preceded in death by her husband: Francisco N. Zapata Jr.; her brothers: Doroteo Martinez, Trinidad Martinez, and Nasario Martinez; and sister, Modesta Quiroz.

Visitation was Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba.

Rosary was Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 25, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ramiro Zapata, Chino Zapata, Frank Zapata, Gabriel Menchaca, Vicente Hernandez and Steven Zapata. Officiating was Richard Menchaca.

Elodia M. Zapata joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on May 21, 2023, in San Saba, Texas. Elodia was born to Juan Martinez and Andrea Galindo on October 3, 1930, in San Saba, Texas.

Elodia met and later on married Francisco N. Zapata Jr. on December 4, 1950, in Plainview, Texas. They were married for 57 years, and together they had six children. A lifelong resident of San Saba, Elodia worked in the restaurant business as a cook; her
