Ed “Tennessee” Berryhill, age 80, passed, away December 12, 2020, in Hendricks Medical Hospital Abilene, Texas, after a short battle with Covid-19.

Ed was born June 6, 1940, in Cowan (Franklin County), Tennessee, to Alexander and Rosie Bell (Henshaw) Berryhill. He was the youngest son of a large loving family. Brothers: Sam, Franklin, and Robert Berryhill. Sisters: Sally Martin, Annie Chudy, Nadine Truelock, Willie Mae Langford, and Juanita Finchum, all of whom have predeceased him. He joined the US Army in 1958 in Winchester, Tennessee, and was eventually stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas, in the early 1960’s. During his service, Berryhill was a Tank Gunner. He received honors for “Sharpshooter” in both Rifle and pistol categories. Prior to his Honorable discharge in 1964, Ed received a Good Conduct Medal.

As an honorable Texan, he made San Saba his home, where he was respectfully known as “ Tennessee.” He married and raised his five children in San Saba. He was hard working and a dedicated truck driver, working many years with Marvin Riggs and Riggs Feed; he enjoyed what he did and went on to drive, even after retirement. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, camping, tending to livestock and spending time with his family and friends.

Tennessee is survived by his children: Lisa Berryhill of Bangs, Texas; Tim (Sherry) Berryhill of San Saba, Texas; Billy (Christi) Berryhill of Plano, Texas; Cindy Berryhill of Killeen, Texas; and Misty Berryhill of San Saba. Thirteen Grandchildren: Casey (Kasey) Berryhill, Echo Pierce, Tabitha (JR.) Younggreen, Mathew Rodriquez, Sabrina (Ryan) Gage, Destiny Pierce, Billy Joe (Anabel) Berryhill, Dustin Grumbles, Forrist Pierce, Katie Berryhill, Sara Berryhill, Ryder Byler and Arian Stevens, as well as many great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Heaven Stevens. He will be greatly missed.
