Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home. Charles was born on June 5, 1946, in Sweetwater, Texas, to Herbert Harry “Jack” Lusty and Juanita Estes Lusty. He spent his teenage years in San Saba, Texas, where he shared a special bond with his cousin, Roy Lee, who was more like a brother to him. Their friendship and the memories they made together remained an important part of his life.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. Drafted during the Vietnam War era, he served in Korea. Long before entering the Army, he earned the nickname “Slick,” a name that stayed with him throughout his life.
Charles was a man of quiet strength, kindness, generosity, and deep faith. As a Christian, he loved the Lord and enjoyed sharing conversations about the things he had read and learned from the Bible. His faith was reflected in the way he treated others, always offering kindness rather than criticism. He was a gentle soul who never had a harsh word to say about anyone.
Above all, Charles loved his family. His children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and there was little he wouldn't do for them. His love was shown not only through his words but through his willingness to help and be there whenever he was needed. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, and the unconditional love he gave so freely.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Estes Lusty; his father and stepmother, Herbert Harry “Jack” and Evie Dee Lusty; his sister, Iris Andrews; and his beloved cousin, Roy Lee.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Moore Lusty; his son, Toby Clifton Lusty; and his daughter, Robin Kelly Lusty.
He is also survived by his brothers, Edwin Harry Lusty and Donnie Lecroy; his sisters: Linda Kaye (Lusty) Cathey, Minnie Pearl Tennell and husband Porky, Barbara Lecroy, and B.J. Lecroy.
Charles leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Hezekiah Lusty, Kade Loki Lusty, Lucian John Lusty, Gideon Ernest Lusty, Gabriel Lazarus Lusty, and Cypress Jean Lusty.
He is also survived by several loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever treasure his memory.
Though Charles will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that his faith was strong, his love was genuine, and the kindness he shared throughout his life will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Following the services, family and friends are welcome to gather for a meal and continued fellowship at a local restaurant.
