Bill Davidson, beloved husband, father and Pepaw, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Bill was born to Charles and Loree Davidson on February 10, 1924, in San Saba, Texas, where he lived all his life. With only a 10th grade education, Bill left school to help run the family grocery store as well as help on the family farm. He married his bride, Juanice Davidson, on May 4, 1947. For 74 years, Bill and Janice partnered in life to raise their only daughter, Sharon Kay, while working side by side in a local store, Davidson’s Grocery. Bill ran the store from 1955 until he sold it in 1984. But retirement wasn’t in the picture for Bill and Juanice. After closing Davidson’s Grocery, Bill ran a successful ice business or Juanice ran the business and Bill did whatever he could to make her happy! They continued to work together until they could no longer live independently.
With a soft heart and joyous personality, Bill never met a stranger. He was always willing to lend a hand and help where he could. Bill was a member of San Saba Church of Christ where he was baptized. He served in his church and always made sure they had what was needed for church activities and church socials.
Bill had a philanthropic spirit and was eager to help where he was needed with community activities and social events. You could always count on Bill to pull up with ice loaded in coolers or drop off some of Memaws homemade goodies.
Bill loved to tinker with machines and build weathervanes. He was an avid golfer and spent many days on the San Saba River Golf Course with friends, Marvin Riggs, Dean Bagley, Warren Randolph, and many, many more.
In his later years, Bill loved to tell stories of the old days. Each time he began a story, it would always start with a chuckle and with the phrase “When me and old Rily Harkey…”.
Billy R. Davidson was preceded in death by his wife, Juanice Davidson; and his parents, Charles and Loree Davidson. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Kay Pierce and her husband Rick; granddaughter, Tracy Renton and her husband Neil; grandson, Lee Pierce and his wife Terra; four great-grandchildren: Brandon and Rebekah Renton, Korie and Weston Pierce; all of Midland, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
