Alvin "J.R." George

Alvin "J.R." George, 74, of San Antonio, was many things to many people, but to those who knew him, he was simply irreplaceable.
Born March 13, 1952, Alvin went home to be with his Lord on June 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, strength, and a love for people that left no stranger in his wake. A tradesman at heart, Alvin took pride in his sheet metal work and carried those skills into a lifetime of building businesses, companies, and opportunities for those around him. He founded a transport company and a construction company among other ventures, embodying the spirit of an entrepreneur who never stopped creating. What set Alvin apart was not what he built with his hands, but how he showed up for the people he loved. He was steady and unshaken. Not a man without emotion, but a man who knew how to listen. That gift of listening was his quiet superpower. He had a way of sitting with someone in their hardest moments and letting them talk it through, and somehow by the end they found their own way forward. Those around him leaned on that more than he probably ever knew.

In 2013, Alvin came to faith in Jesus Christ through baptism, and it became the defining chapter of his life. He was an active and beloved member of the San Saba Church of Christ, where his enthusiasm for sharing the gospel was evident to all who knew him. Alvin was never shy about his belief; he wore it openly and joyfully. His deepest heart's desire was that every member of his family would come to know Jesus Christ through baptism. It was not a wish so much as a calling he carried for them, one that shaped how he loved and how he lived his final years.

He is survived by his wife, Dee George; his children:  John, Melissa, Melinda, Robert, and Emry; his stepchildren:  Cameron, Frank, Courtney, Casey, and Cody; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings:  Patricia Batot, James George, George George, and Patrick George. Alvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Vickie George; his daughter, Tara George; and his siblings, William George and Barbara Moore.

Celebration Of Life Service will be Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the San Saba Church of Christ 201 West Wallace San Saba, Texas.  Arrangements by Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Goldthwaite, Texas.
