Since gas rationing, we have seen the Alcalde, D. F. Moore, come to the Bend on his steed, foaming at the bits, the rider rearing back like he was when he went up the Chisholm Trail, rearing back like an Adjutant General.
W. C. Sawyer of Cherokee has recently purchased from the Dr. Harris Farms of near Ft. Worth a fine registered Hereford bull which has been placed on his ranch near Cherokee.
The veteran well driller, J. E. Virdell, recently completed a good water well for Pancho Sloan. The drilling is said to have been extremely hard and tough.
Sloan Sisters and Buster Pool have contracted some calves to Sol Weatherby of San Angelo at 16 cents.
Judge Warren Randolph, Judge G. A. Walters, Sheriff Dennis Dean and Ed Rainey attended the district meeting of the Federal Bureau of Investigation at Brady.
John F. Bogard, who has been with the editorial department of the San Saba News for more than a year, will leave the last of the month for Pyote where he will accept a civil service position as Supervisor of Files and Records at the Army Air Base there.
Mrs. Lee Hearn, who has been visiting with her husband in Louisiana, was here the first of the week to visit in the homes of her sisters, Mmes. Carl Maas and Dick Robbins, returning to her home in Abilene.

A sub-deb group of San Saba girls have been included in two parties recently when Misses Pauline and Shannon Gregg entertained with a slumber party at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Gregg with the following present: Misses Patsy Ruth McKee, Flo Adel Park, Carolyn Kirkpatrick, Nettie Oma Ragsdale, Patricia Ann Ward, Wanda Jewel Scott and Nancy Sellman.

The San Saba High School Girls ran into stiff competition in their meet at Comanche with 36 teams participating. Debra Bailey, Linda Bailey, Shelia Nicholson and Judy Pierce made up the Mile relay team which earned a first place.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Maria Tijerina are the parents of Joe Maria Jr., five pounds, 12 ounces, born March 21.
Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Morales are the parents of Marial Elizabeth, six pounds, four ounces, born March 22.
Mr. and Mrs. Corley Byrd are the parents of Lee Ann, five pounds, three ounces, born March 25.
For the Cherokee Indians it was Ruben Garza who took first place in the Mile run with the time of five minutes flat. Robert Garza placed 6th in the discus with a heave of 103-11 3/4.
Mrs. Sara K. Harris, San Saba Elementary School teacher has received an Honorable Mention Award for her entry in a nationwide search for innovative and practical uses of educational audio-visual products.
There were three accidents in San Saba County for the month of February according to a report from J. O. Tanner, Highway Patrol Supervisor for this area. The accidents resulted in one injury and no deaths for February. The total for the 1973 now stand at seven accidents, seven injuries and no deaths.
Richland Springs had company sometime Friday night unwanted company who broke into three businesses and the Post Office, taking money, cigarettes and stamps. Heaviest loser was the Post Office which recorded a loss of $546.00 worth of stamps along with about $30.00 in cash.
The Rev. Edwin A. Thayer, who conducts services at Grace Episcopal Church in Llano, will ring the bell of St. Luke's in San Saba after completion of the painting and construction of the structure to hold the bell.
Six paddle boats have been repainted and made ready for those who enjoy paddling around on the Mill Pond. The only problem is the chain that also wraps around a tree and is connected to a padlock. Summer must be on the way.
