It seems that more so each year Thanksgiving keeps getting pushed to the back burner. Plans, costumes, costume contests, and parties for Halloween seem to consume our every extra thought. Then, as soon as we have put the last piece of candy in the last costume-clad child’s bucket, we immediately think about the next big holiday....... Christmas.
Don’t get me wrong. There is thought of Thanksgiving weekend festivities, especially the biggest shopping day of the year: Black Friday! And it is followed by Shop Local Saturday, and Cyber Monday. But again, these are about the next month’s holiday, Christmas.
I have a simple challenge for all of us this year: Take time to be thankful.

See to the right for the original Thanksgiving proclamation by President George Washington given in 1789. It is evident in this original proclamation that the intent was two-fold: 1.) To be thankful for what you have, 2.) To always remember Who we are thanking.
Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving weekend.
