Our last event of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is the Purple Paw Parade. This is where we march around the courthouse square in our best purple gear to help raise awareness against domestic violence and sexual assault. We partner with The San Saba County Friends of Animals, and it is our favorite event of the month! This year was our biggest turn out ever. We had 21 dogs dressed up and ready to strut their stuff around the square! We would like to thank all the participants for coming out and joining the fun.
In the last year, the Dove Project has helped 162 victims in the direction of escaping and healing from domestic violence or sexual assault. In the same time period, we have been able to continue helping 70 prior victims obtain services such as counseling, legal aid, utility/rental assistance, and peer support. These victims have come from all over the state of Texas and several others. Domestic violence and sexual assault happens everywhere, and we are proud that with your support we are able to help this community and others that do not have the same resources. We hope that you will continue to support and raise awareness with us and keep our community and state safe from these atrocities. If you know someone that might be in danger of domestic violence or sexual assault, please encourage them to reach out. There is help. Love should never hurt!
