Pierian Club holds October 13th meeting

On Thursday, October 13th, the Pierian Study Club met in the home of Donna Baxter. The Projects Committee consisting of Cissy Williams, Donna Baxter, Gail Bruner, Catherine Hanrahan, and Shelly Mahan served pecan muffins, asparagus flatbread, pumpkin mousse parfaits, fall-spiced tea, and citrus infused water.

In the absence of the Club President, Marcia Dyer, and the First Vice-President, Joanne Weik, Cissy Williams, Second Vice-President, conducted the meeting. Jacqueline Carlson read the minutes of the September meeting. Kathleen Hawkins gave the Treasurer’s report and welcomed new member, Janis Murray. Brooke Bagley read an email update from scholarship recipient, Araceli Hernandez.

Projects Chairman, Cissy Williams, gave an update on the two recent recipients of the Club’s scholarships. Piper Moates of Richland Springs and granddaughter of Cydney Pearce, is attending Texas State University. Araceli Hernandez, a San Saba graduate, is a student at Tarrant County College. Club members are urged to declare legacy students in their freshman year of high school in order for the Club to plan appropriately for scholarships.

An update on the Christmas Tea was given by Entertainment Committee members, Jacqueline Carlson and Tracy Farley. The tea will be held on December 1st in the home of Kay Nettleship.

Associate members attending were: Anita Adams, Sherry Ruddick, Trish Warren, and Becky Whitley.

The November 10th meeting will be held in the home of Rhonda Killion.
