This was the statement I kept hearing from a radio commentator the other day and callers were calling in and talking about different governments and how they were corrupt. The question is this a true statement or is it false that governments corrupt?
There can be millions of opinions and ideas about different things, but are they true? For instance, for hundreds of years people believed the world was flat but this was disproven.
When I was young, I thought I had all the answers but as I grew older, I found out many of my ideas were not so hot. So where can 100% truth be found? The Bible claims to be truth,100% because it was inspired by God and God cannot lie (John 17:17, 2 Timothy 3:16, Matthew 4:4).
The Bible has a lot to say about sin and its deception. First, sin is the problem, and we are all sinners. If we say we are not, the Bible says we are liars (1 John 1:8&10, Romans 3:9,5:12). We can be deceived by sin and its lusts (Hebrews 3:13, 11:25, James 1:15, John 8:34), but Jesus came to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15, John 3:16).
So, governments do not corrupt; they just give people, or sinners, the chance or opportunity to become corrupt. Yes, there are many fine political leaders, but there are also some stinkaroos. People corrupt governments!
