When I attended the Dresden Melon Festival on Saturday, August 6th, I put in my name and bid on some things at the silent auction. Mine was the highest bid of $55.00 on jewelry valued at $225.00. One of the rings I am wearing now and the other items will be great gifts.
I played the French Horn in the Jefferson High School Band in Dresden, Ohio. In the late 1960s, I borrowed a French Horn to play in an alumni band at the banquet. Years later, my husband, Larry, bought me a used French Horn that I played in the San Saba River Band. The horn moved with me to Zanesville, Ohio, in May, 2021. When I mentioned that I would not be playing the horn again at an Alumni report meeting, the Treasurer brought her great grandson to my house, and I gave him the French Horn. I plan on going to a game or concert to 'visit' the horn. It has found a great home back in Ohio.
Congrats to Dale and Terry McKinnerney, Richland Springs selection for August Yard of the Month. Dale (Mr. Mac) was a speaker at the prison in San Saba when I directed the 10-member choir and a was also speaker. He has a great testimony.
Have you noticed a change at the San Saba News & Star? Donna Webb retired, and Djuana Payton is the Editor. My thoughts and prayers are for these friends in their going and coming because each change in our lives is a challenge and opportunity.
