At the age of 90 years old, George was welcomed home by his loved ones who have passed and a host of heavenly angels. George graduated from Richland Springs High School in 1949. From 1949 to 1953, he served his country in the Navy during the Korean War.After completing his service, he went to work for Bell Aircraft and Eastman Kodak in Grand Prairie. In the fall of 1953, George met his first love, Patricia Maxine Stewart, and they married in September 1954.
George and Patricia lived in Arlington where he began working for General Motors. He graduated from Arlington A&M Junior College and continued his education at Texas A&M University earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1961. He and his family moved to Levittown, Pennsylvania, where he worked for Philco-Ford until 1971. George and Patricia, along with their three children returned to Texas where he began teaching Math and Physics at San Saba High School. He was affectionately known as “Mr. H” from 1971 until he retired in 1995. Patricia passed away that same year after 40 ½ years together. Then in November 2002, George married his second love, Mary Frances Mullins, and they had 20 years together before his passing.
George was proceeded in death by his parents, William Joe and Loretta Mae Sherwood Herrington; and his first wife, Patricia. He is survived by his wife, Frances; his children: Jayme White, James Herrington and his wife Nancy, and Janet Brister and her husband Gene; his step-children: Lee Ann Miller and her husband Vince, and Quentin Portie and his wife Patricia; his grandchildren: Thomas White and his wife Heather, Kathryn Herrington, Jennifer Herrington, Ryan Brister and his wife Madeline, and Lauren Rodriguez and her husband Joe; his step-grandchild, Christian Miller; his great-grandchildren: Haily White, KyLeigh White, Joe (Tres) Rodriguez, and Gracelynn Rodriguez; his sister, Hattie Rogers; and his nephews, Brian Rogers and Joe Rogers and his wife Donna. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
