John Whitney receives Employee of the Month Award

John Whitney, City employee with the Parks department, was presented with the Employee of the Month award for July of 2022 at the City Council meeting, last Tuesday, July 26th, by his supervisor, Eugene Bessent, along with Mayor Pro-Tem Robert Whitten.

Mr. Bessent described John as a big help and stated he has learned all about setting up and taking down the City Christmas lights. John has also obtained two spraying licenses, the Roundup spray and Vector spray for mosquitoes.

Those present applauded as John was awarded a gift certificate from a local restaurant. He then posed for a picture holding a dedicated plaque for “Employee of the Month” with his name engraved on it.

Mayor Jordan opened a public hearing to consider a variance that had been unanimously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission on June 22, 2022. Since this variance involved Mayor Jordan, he temporarily turned the meeting over to Mayor Pro-Tem Whitten for the discussion and voting for this item. The City Council unanimously approved the variance.

The other item under Public Hearing was removed as it was withdrawn by the party requesting the resolution.
