Bobby Pridgeon and John Hall, members of the San Saba Volunteer Fire Department, are attending a Fireman's Training School at Texas A&M College. Roughly a quarter-million dollars' worth of equipment is being used in the fireman's school, which is in its 24th year.

Dr. H. V. Felts has moved his dental offices to a new clinic building in the Laurel Heights Addition, on a lot west of and adjoining the Farley & Felts medical clinic. Two inches of rain, accompanied by strong wind, fell in Cherokee this week and extended southward into Llano county in heavy amounts, the United Telephone Co. reported here. Bend, Chappel, Harkeyville, Richland Springs and San Saba received traces of rain from this same disturbance.

Seaman Ross Maxwell returned to Mine Craft Base Charleston, S. C., after having visited in San Saba with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Maxwell, since July 4. A former employee of the San Saba News and other Texas newspapers, Maxwell has been in the Navy for two and one-half years.

Three steel sections on San Saba's new 500,000 gallon water reservoir were in place last week with four more sections and a rounded dome to be added. Each section is more than seven feet tall, with a 30-foot diameter.

Jerry Blankenship and Marilyn Johanson members of the San Saba Chapter Historical Commission presented a plaque to the commissioners court stating that the courthouse is listed in the National Register of historical places. Wayland Perry, Commissioner Pct.3; Rickey Lusty, Commissioner Pct. 2; Byron Theodosis, County Judge; Roger Crockett, Commissioner Pct. 1; and Roger McGehee, Commissioner Pct. 4 were all present to accept the plaque.

Angela Addkison, eighteen year old daughter, Gaylon and Cherei Addkison recently competed in the Texas State International Miss Pageant held in Dallas. Angela was representing the Heart of Texas International Miss Pageant where she was crowned Teen Miss in San Saba. Miss Addkison represented her hometown well.

Susan Broyles of Cherokee, won a 60 second shopping spree from Super S Foods in San Saba. In honor of their 30th Anniversary Super S gave away one per store "60 second shopping spree". Susan managed to rack up $2,137.00 worth of groceries.

Sgt. Raymond Charles Moreno attached to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C., recently returned home from Iraq. Moreno is a recipient of the bronze star for his part in avoiding an ambush and then leading his group to safety while in Iraq. Raymond is the son of Lynn Moreno of La Grange, Raymond Moreno of Wimberly, and the grandson of Gomez and Doris Moreno of San Saba.

To advance to district play, the San Saba Rat Pack Team placed first and were undefeated in our local league which consisted of 10 games and six teams: Richland Springs, Lometa, San Saba Astros, San Saba Dillos, San Saba Crusaders and San Saba Rat Pack. The Rat Pack team members included Braden McBee, left field; Martin Vega, shortstop & pitcher; J. Mike Miles, 1st base & shortstop; Kobe Cisneroz, 2nd base; Cody Herd, right field; Ryan Parks, 3rd base; George Long, pitcher & 1st base; Andrew Fowler, catcher; Juan Rivera, center field; and Richard Schneider, right field. The team is coached by Jose Cisneroz and Bobby Pryor.
