Hello from Bend,
The Bend sure has been hoppin’ this last week! Father’s Day prompted many social gatherings. I was so pleased to get to visit with people that I hadn’t visited with in a while. William and Jane Clark had a full house Father’s Day weekend as they celebrated the holiday AND William’s 85th birthday (June 16). I think they had a great time, and I know they always enjoy the company of family and friends.
Raymond and Lewvon Hicks had quite a full house on Sunday. Pete, Waylon, River, and I went for supper, along with a whole slew of our crew. Laura Beth made a fabulous dinner from scratch, and there was not one crumb left when we were done. In fact, I might have seen someone licking their plate. Haha.
Jimmy Hicks, along with his folks, Jim and OraBeth, traveled to Richland Springs to Locking Horns Ranch to celebrate the holiday. I had not heard of that place before now. I looked it up online, and it looks like a really nice place to getaway!
River Harris is attending CentriKid Church Camp this week in Sherman, Texas, and I can’t wait to hear all about her trip when she returns. I know she’s going to have soooo much to tell me.
The Bend-Chappel TEEA (Texas Extension Education Association) met recently at the Bend UMC and Dianna Goss spoke to the group of eight about CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children). We are proud of our own member, Phylis McCoury, who has been a CASA Advocate for one and a half years now. Members can expect the next meeting to be held on September 12th.
Tuesday, June 21st, we officially reached the season of summer. The heat and lack of rain continues. The Colorado River is getting lower, and creeks are disappearing. It’s a sad sight to see. Maybe we could arrange a city-wide rain dance?!
Until next week….Your’s Truly,
Brandie from the Bend
