Suzanne Gray Adams was born on June 21, 1939, to Reuben Elmer Gray and Josephine Edmund Petty Gray. Suzy was the youngest of four sisters. She married William Edward Adams on March 28, 1959, and to that marriage was born three children: Leslie Nan Adams Price, Tommy Martin Adams, and Edward Harkey Adams.
Suzy attended San Saba schools and played basketball, volleyball and tennis. She attended Tarleton University. She worked at the Capital in Austin prior to getting married. Suzy and Will and their kids moved to San Saba in 1968 after Will graduated from Law School. She was superintendent of the Sunday Schools here at the First United Methodist Church in San Saba for many years. Suzy was involved in the San Saba community raising her kids, working as a legal secretary, and volunteering in the community for many endeavors. Suzy loved San Saba. In 1988, she moved to Lubbock, where she had her bakery business known as Suzy’s Pecans for over 20 years. She died on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, from complications of dementia while living with her daughter in Salado.
Suzy loved dancing, watching NBA basketball and spending time with her friends. She had many fabulous friends and was a precious, wonderful and loving mother.
Suzy was preceded in death by her parents and her loving sisters: Patricia Gray Senterfitt, Juna Frances Josephine Gray Oliver, and Mary Gray Massie. She is survived by her children: Les who resides in Salado, Tommy and his wife Brandi of Brownwood, and Eddy who lives in San Antonio. She is also survived by grandchildren: Jason Daniel Adams and his wife Vanessa of Kyle, William Wayne Smith of Wylie, William Clifford Adams and his wife Morgan of Fort Worth, Mia Louis Adams Storm and her husband Hunter of Austin, and Abby Leeann Adams of Miami, Florida. Suzy is also survived by a whole passel of great-grandchildren and many dear nieces and nephews.
Suzy was laid to rest on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the San Saba Cemetery with a private family gathering. The family requests that any memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church in San Saba.
