Thurman Theodore Terry

Thurman Theodore Terry left this world at the age of 84, to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 24, 2022, after a brief illness. His love of science and teaching Biology led him to donate his body to science at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas.

He was born in Richland Springs, Texas, to Marion Monley and Erma Camilla Haase Terry on November 23, 1937. He graduated from Richland Springs High School and received a scholarship to play football at Rice University. There he was recruited to play football for the

Baltimore Colts, until a knee injury permanently sidelined him.

He continued his love of football by coaching and teaching at C. E. King High School, where he also coached basketball. He transferred to Sam Houston High School where he completed his 34 years of teaching. He also earned a masters degree from Sam Houston State University.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife (Mary Lee Murray Terry), his second wife (Lou Ellen Boddie Terry), one son (Thurman Theodore Terry, Jr.), three brothers (Guido Hulon Terry, Thomas Herben Terry, and Richard Otto Blake Terry), and two sisters (Marcla Edna Terry and MaryAnn Elizabeth Terry). He is survived by his daughter (Teresa Gail Terry Cogswell Fourcade and husband John), son (Richard Thomas Terry and wife Vanessa), step-daughter (Glenda Wilkinson), two grandsons (Michael Joshua Cogswell and wife Brittany and Johnathan Blake Cogswell and wife Canaan), granddaughter (Mary Addelyn Terry), two great-grandchildren (Jaxon Gauge Cogswell and Harper Grace Cogswell), two sisters (Erna Clair Bradford and husband Bill and Enola Terry Fuqua), numerous nieces, nephews, friends and a large extended family.
