Have you ever said any of these phrases?

“Hey, it’s time for worship.”

“The worship was a little loud this morning.”

“Ok, worship time starts in five minutes.”

See what is going on here? How often do we associate worship with song?

It’s an easy association to make. We use music to sing praises and declare our love for and devotion to our God, and so we should! He is worthy of our praise! But He is worthy of more than a song! The musical portion of the Sunday service is just the tip of the iceberg!

Romans 12:1-2 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

It might not readily be apparent, but our personal worship service starts the moment we wake up in the morning. And when we realize just who it is that we are worshipping, isn’t He worthy of it all?

Psalm 29:2 “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.”

“All the glory due His name…” A song isn’t going to cut it. Five songs isn’t going to cut it. Our Savior gave His perfect life for us, and He deserves no less in return.

1 Corinthians 10:31 “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

As we live for Him, our every move and breath should be for the glory of our Lord. They way we treat others, they way we conduct business, and yes, even the way we drive… And this is what I mean by the tip of the iceberg: when you see ice on the ocean surface, it is visible because it is forced above the water, it is lifted there by a massive amount of buoyancy from a huge amount of ice unseen below. When we come together to worship through song, and fellowship, and giving, what comes forth shouldn’t be something that we do because “it’s the worship time.” It’s something we do because we cannot help it. Our songs and praise are lifted up and pour out of us from the constant state of worship and gratitude for our Savior that we are in. So when you wake up each day, decide to live out your love for your redeemer! Love others, serve Him, seek Him, Follow Him, Worship Him!
