My heart is heavy today because of Russia's invasion to Ukraine. There has been more awareness and prayer support for this war than there was for the war in Vietnam. As I thought about this situation, I cried and prayed.
I stopped writing this column and had my lunch. After eating, my chocolate lab Ellie knows the routine, and she was ready to go get the mail. In the mail was a letter from Aetna with Important Plan Information; Texas Vehicle Registration Renewal Notice for my car (I will send them information that my car has Ohio plates now) and the 2-24 edition of the San Saba News & Star. When we got home, I sat down and opened the newspaper and read 'A Sad Sayonara' from Happy Herman's Hideway and cried again. This time my loving chocolate lab Ellie came to me as if she knew something was wrong, and I thanked her for loving and caring for me. The news will not be the same without this column that brought such humor, vibrancy, fun and love.
At the Widows Group I attended Saturday, we prayed for Jane Marchesky's family.
Jane died last week. She was a contestant on the Talent show that I saw last year when I lived in San Saba. She was a very special woman with great faith and talent who touched many lives because she was battling cancer. Although she was selected for the finals, she was unable to compete because of her illness. The media gave the report of her death before her family knew about it and have invaded their privacy. Information about her private funeral has not been made public to avoid another invasion.
Well, I need to report a joy instead of sad news, so I am happy to report that I got my last piece of furniture that I ordered last July. It is a beautiful dark hardwood end table made by Daniel's Amish Collection. It will give me pleasure knowing that perhaps it was made from a sawmill owned by one of my Amish friends from Holmes County where Larry and I used to live.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26.
