Dr. Joseph John Huckestein passed away January 19, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Dr. Huckestein was born in Steubenville, Ohio, to Joseph Peter and Catherine Irene (Hooper) Huckestein May 8, 1934. Joseph was baptized June 3, 1934, and confirmed October 3, 1942, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Weirton, West Virginia. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Saba, Texas. Joseph was married to Beverly Jane Conner January 24, 2011. He received his Doctor of Education degree at Nova University in 1977. He loved all things science, Native American, Ducks and Geology. He began his love of teaching in 1959 and continued this for over 50 years. Joseph was a member of Heart of Texas Shriners, Grand Lodge of Texas, Shriners International, Scottish Rite, Ben Hur Shriners, and Association of Texas Professional Educators. He received abundant awards and acknowledgements to include the Pike Award from San Saba Lodge, which is a prestigious award bestowed to an educator.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Catherine Huckestein; his brothers, Robert Samuel and Thomas Alan.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Huckestein; his son, Joseph John Huckestein; his daughter, Sarah Adams (Ervin); his son, Matthew Huckestein; his grandchildren: Abigail, Colson, Amelia, Leighton, Teague, Alijah; and his sister, Mary Patricia Lidell.
