Daryl Gene Daniel, 88, of Briggs, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in Lampasas.
Visitation will be held at Sneed Funeral Chapel on Sunday, December 12, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Sneed Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Mr. Moriah Cemetery in Briggs.
Daryl was born on July 8, 1933, in San Saba, Texas, to James Edward Daniel and Wilma Josephine Moore Daniel. He faithfully served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Yorktown. He spent most of his career working on ranches and was the foreman of Travis LaRue's ranch, who was the former mayor of Austin. Daryl then was self-employed working on his own ranch.
He and his wife, Nelda were very involved in many activities in Burnet County including the Burnet County Fair and Rodeo and 4-H. He was known as a prankster, had a great sense of humor, and was always making everyone around him laugh. He had many nicknames which included: onion head, prune head, and whitey; everyone had their own nickname for Daryl. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jimmy Joy Wilson.
Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Nelda Daniel; son, Craig Daniel, and wife, Beatrice; daughter, Angela Smith; grandchildren: Cory, Colby and Jacki, Landon; step-grandson, Anthony; great-grandchildren: Riggin, Paisley, Rynlee, Piper, Kaiden, Journee, Joseph, and Jayden.
