Last Sunday when I arrived at church, I took the side door into the dining area. There, he stood quietly, not moving, just watching me. You could see he had a tough life by the numerous scars. I thought as I looked at him, he came here to get help. I went to the refrigerator and found some biscuits. I took one to the door and reached down to give it to him. He very carefully took it from my hand and went over and laid down and slowly ate the biscuit. I went back inside several times and got him more to eat.
Seeing that old dog reminds me of something in life and the Bible. Today, there are many people all around us in bad shape, but they do not want God in their life. Oh, they want a better life or one more comfortable, just not God. We do see a few people showing up at church wanting help.
The Bible says if we will draw near to Him, He will draw unto us, (James 4:6-10, 1 Peter 5:6-8). Sadly, many will never find that help that is available to all, (Hebrews 3:7-19). Oh, but to repent/confess our sins and call upon Jesus to be our Lord and Savior! It is there we find peace with God and that wonderful joy and contentment, (John 3:16, Romans 1:16, 2 Timothy 1:12). See you in Church next Sunday.
