A number of outstanding applicants from Texas universities applied for the HCCW Scholarship program this year. Their universities, majors of study and future plans are diverse and reflect the outstanding qualities of the applicants. The scholarship committee worked diligently to sort through the applicants and select recipients who will be lifelong contributors to the mission and goals of HCCW, the beef industry and beef producers.
The Scholarship Committee chaired by Erin Worrell of Harper awarded a total of $11,600 to seven worthy recipients. Not bad considering the organization was unable to fully utilize their normal fundraising activities due to the COVID crisis.
The Collegiate Recipients include: Kaylee Kramer, Harper, Texas, Texas A&M University, Agribusiness, $3,000; Jax Tedder, Mason, Texas, Tarleton State University, Wildlife Science & Ranch Management, $3,000; Ella Canfield, Mason, Texas, TCU, Strategic Communication - Minors: Spanish and Environmental Science, $2,200; Whitt Bierschwale, Mason, Texas, Texas Tech, Agribusiness, $1,000; Daylon Nebgen, Fredericksburg, Texas, Mary Hardin Baylor, Mechanical Engineering, $800; Lucas Martin, Mason, Texas, Texas A&M University, Animal Science Trade School, $800; and Hannah Steele, Johnson City, Texas, Texas State Technical College, Welding, $800.
