More Revealed Unsung Heroes in San Saba County

Team members of San Saba County Volunteer Fire Department: (Shown left to right) Lee Murray, Captain Jack Blossman, Brad Everett, Fire Chief Chris Stewart, Jose Rocha, Mike Eden, Carter Eden, Will Cade, Bobby O’Neill, Michael Ward, Chris Turner, Will Cooley, Daniel Barrier and Wally Kilman

Lorenzo Arroyo, Jr., Trooper-Texas Highway Patrol (L), and Mason Murr, Game Warden, Region VII-District II, TPWD Game Warden (R), pose with all smiles, even though they worked so fervently, sometimes 14-hour days, during Storm Uri to keep San Saba community members safe. Both Arroyo and Murr worked together at times helping each other as needed to work minor MVAs, welfare checks, stranded motorists, highway trouble spots, etc. In an interview with Trooper Arroyo, he wanted to ensure that TxDOT staff received recognition, too, since they kept the snow and ice pushed off Hwys 16 and 190, through and out of town, to make for safer travels. Trooper Arroyo stated he also wanted to give thanks and appreciation to his supervisor and fellow troopers who searched and found regular milk for his young daughter. He shared that milk was hard to find during the storm because grocery store stock/shelves were bare.

Marisela Gossett, San Saba County/City Dispatch technician, worked long hours during Storm Uri. This “hero” stayed strong and perservered through all of the glitches that the Sheriff’s Office, the City and the County of San Saba experienced during that miserably cold and at times “powerless” week.

Above are some of our City heroes who rarely get their photos or names in the paper for their hard and dedicated work to San Saba – (shown left to right) Sgt. Charlie Boyce and Police Chief Ray Riggs. Certainly, we all want to sing praises and give accolades to all members of the City Police Department for making our community safer and protecting us while we stayed warm during the week of Storm Uri.
