The San Saba High School girls varsity powerlifting team had a great showing on Saturday, March 6, at the THSWPA Region 2 Division 3 Championships hosted by Dublin High School. In a field of 156 entered female lifters, each of the three Lady Dillos made the upcoming 2A state meet in their respective weight classes.
In the 97-pound class, Makinzey Saldivar placed third with 470 pounds lifted: 160 on the squat, 120 on the bench press, and 190 pounds on the deadlift.
For the 148-pound class, Kynedi Isham placed ninth in a field of mostly larger schools with 710 pounds lifted: 270 on the squat, 160 on the bench press, and 280 pounds on the deadlift.
With the 220-pound class, Austyn Graham placed ninth in a field of mostly larger schools with 695 pounds lifted: 265 on the squat, 160 on the bench press, and 270 pounds on the deadlift.
The upcoming two-day girls’ state tournament will be held on March 19-20 in Corpus Christi.
